About Dennis Gibb

After I graduated from college I was inducted into the US Army. I was trained as a field artillery officer and helicopter pilot. I did a tour in Vietnam and was wounded. After recovering I left the Army and joined a stock brokerage firm owned by the late H. Ross Perot. I would spend the next 5 decades in the investment business as a financial advisor to Native American Communities. I rose to be a partner in the 5th largest brokerage firm before leaving to found my own firm.
While I was running my own firm I committed a terrible crime for one in my position and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Today I work at a small college in Washington State where I have started and run a unique program helping incarcerated veterans return to society.

It makes no difference who gives you a cup of poison, loving friend or mortal enemy if you drink it you are still dead.

Inspiration for An Da Shelladh

I find inspiration in strange places, this story came from a passage I read in another book about Daniel Boone's explorations. He was often accompanied by a man who had the reputation being able to see the future. That intrigued me and I did some research and found that among Celts there is a long history of what is called the second sight. I then paired that idea with some deep reflection I had while I was in federal prison about suffering, guilt, shame, judgement and the search for meaning from suffering.

Reviews for An Da Shelladh

Dennis Gibb has created a world incredibly relatable, tragic, and hopeful! I was so captivated and caught up in this reality, that I had to remind myself repeatedly it was science fiction. It's impossible to read without imagining the mini-series or films it will inspire (and I can't wait to see the quality adaptations). This is a must-read, and be sure you have the time to fully indulge -- because you won't want to put it down....until the goose-bump inducing very end.
